The Long Night — When Cainites Ruled as Lords
The Storyteller System
The World of Darkness uses the Storyteller System — a dice pool mechanic where you roll a number of d10s equal to your Attribute + Ability. Each die that shows a 6 or higher (in Dark Ages) is a success. The more successes, the better the outcome. Roll a 1? That's a potential botch.
The High Clans & Low Clans
In the Dark Medieval world, vampires are divided into the High Clans — noble lords who rule from castles — and the Low Clans — outcasts and monsters who lurk in shadow.
Kings and kingmakers. The Ventrue believe it is their divine right to rule, and in the Dark Ages, many do. They hold courts and command mortal armies.
Masters of shadow and the Church. The Lasombra control bishops and cardinals, wielding faith as a weapon while casting no reflection.
Lords of Eastern Europe. The Tzimisce shape flesh like clay and guard their ancestral lands with terrifying devotion. Dracula's bloodline.
Patrons of beauty and art. In the courts of France and Italy, Toreador shape culture while losing themselves in aesthetic rapture.
Once philosopher-kings, now warrior-scholars. The Brujah remember Carthage and dream of a better world — or burn the current one.
Wanderers and survivors. The Gangrel claim no domain but the wild, and each frenzy brings them closer to the animal within.
Cursed with monstrous visages, the Nosferatu dwell in sewers and catacombs. They know every secret — for a price.
Blessed or cursed with insight, every Malkavian carries a derangement. Their visions may be prophecy — or utter madness.
Scholars of death itself. The Cappadocians seek to understand mortality — unaware that the Giovanni plot their extinction.
Mages who stole immortality. The Tremere are distrusted by all — for they diablerized Saulot and practice blood sorcery.

The Road Less Traveled
We use Roads (Via) instead of Humanity. Your Road determines your moral framework — Via Regalis for kings, Via Peccati for sinners, Via Bestiae for those who embrace the Beast.
Blood Potency Over Generation
We use V5's Blood Potency as a secondary trait alongside Generation. A 9th generation neonate may have Potency 1, while an active elder might have Potency 4+.
Faith Has Power
True Faith is real and terrifying. Mortals with Faith can repel Cainites, and holy ground burns. This is the Dark Medieval — God is watching.
The Silence of the Blood
There is no Masquerade yet — but the Silence of the Blood exists. Vampires rule openly in some domains, but drawing mortal mobs is still suicide.
Chronicle Logs
The coterie arrived in Constantinople seeking audience with Michael the Patriarch. Instead, they found the Trinity fractured — Antonius destroyed, the Dracon vanished, and Michael lost in his dreams. The Fourth Crusade approaches...
A Lasombra bishop offered secrets in exchange for safe passage through Tzimisce lands. His confession revealed a Tremere chantry hidden beneath the monastery — and the experiments within.
Deep in Tzimisce territory, the coterie witnessed a voivode's "hospitality" — fleshcrafted servants, walls that breathed, and a test of loyalty that cost Ilka her left hand.
